Outside The Box: Skin Deep Boutique

As a plus size woman, blogger, and fashionista I am committed to thinking outside of the “fashion box”. As I browse through style blogs and magazines I am inundated with fashion conforming messages to plus size women to avoid wearing crop tops, bikinis, horizontal stripes, bright colors, and/or large patterns/prints. For the second look in the Skin Deep Boutique #TripleSlayFashion series all I have to say is – BRING IT! Bring the vibrant colors and bold patterns!

For this look I wanted to create and style a bold, dramatic, and chic look. What is more dramatic than a cape?! With fabric and a belt, I created an easy DIY cape. The pattern and color of the fabric is amazing. I love how the hues of fuchsia, white, orange, plum, black, pink, and maroon sweeps and moves. I used my gold-plated belt (a must have closet staple) to create the cape. I styled this look with gold hoop earrings, pony tail, and a deep plum lip. I completed the look with a black chunky heeled sandal.

The creative direction behind this look was inspired by the world of Dr. Seuss! I love the e stunnig colors, patterns, curves, and prints like in the Oh, the Places You’ll Go! book.
