January, February, March, BLINK, December! Ahhhh, how did Christmas sneak up on us again?! If last minute shopping was an Olympic sport, I would be a 4-time gold medalist! Last minute shopping is actually part of my family’s tradition; we love to be out and about in the hustle and bustle of stores. Find out how I stay stylish and stress-free this shopping season… I mean holiday season!
It’s not typical that you would hear stylish and stress-free in the same conversation during the last minute shopping window. Breathe in and breathe out, I got you!
TOP 5 TIPS TO STAY STYLISH AND STRESS-FREE DURING LAST-MINUTE SHOPPING
1. LAYER IT: No matter if you’re battling the wind-chill in the Midwest or embracing the warmth in the South, it’s essential to wear layers. First, I’m a Pennsylvania girl living in a Georgia world, therefore I know how to bundle up. But, I hate wearing a bulky coat or stuffy sweater while I’m shopping. That’s why I opt for a chic and sleek jacket with statement details.
How gorgeous is my dusty blue jacket from Sammy Dress?! There are so many elements to this jacket that I love. I adore the subtle cloudy blue hue. In addition, the delicate lace hem elevates this jacket to a chic statement closet must-have; it’s so adorable! Lastly, the structure and details of this jacket is so modern and trendy. I love contrast of the edgy moto details with a slant silver zipper and breast pockets and the feminine details of a lace hem and waist drawstring. In conclusion, statement outerwear is a must when you are ripping and running around stores. Having an easy breezy jacket while shopping is vital because, if you get warm you can tie it around your waist or if you get chilly you can wear it without the bulk.
2.WALK IT OUT: I love a heel… chunky heeled booties are my fav! You will catch me in a heel 90.99% of the time. While I’m shopping for last minute deals and gifts, I recognize it’s time to leave the heels at home. If you are like me you visit multiple stores during a shopping trip, which means you are doing a ton of walking. Trust me on this, wear flats. You should wear flats because, it’s one less thing you have to worry about during a hectic shopping trip. While you are double checking your gift list, the last thing you want to be worrying about are throbbing feet. Who said you can’t be stylish in flats? Therefore, et yourself some showstopping flats like my Eloquii metallic flats!
3. CHECK IT TWICE: Make a list check it twice. Like with any game time situation you have to have a plan of attack. Stay focused, stay disciplined, stay open minded. Stay Focused: Create a must-gift list. This will included the people you MUST buy gifts for, like your mother, siblings, significant others, etc. This is not the time to buy gifts for your 5th grade teacher or random co-worker. Stay Disciplined: With your must-gift list identify 2 gift options you would gift them. After you identify your gift options, create a budget and stick to it. This will aid in your ability to shop more efficiently and stay in budget. Most of all, Stay Open Minded: Don’t get frustrated if you do not find your first gift option.
4: STRATEGIZE IT: Last minute shopping is not the time to drive all over the city. I love to plant myself in shopping plazas. I love shopping plazas because the have multiple multi-faceted stores like Ross, Marshall’s, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Target, etc. You can shop for all members on your list, from kids to men to pets! You can also shop sites like Groupon and Living Social to give the gift of services and experiences.
5: THE REASON FOR THE SEASON: In closing, the most important aspect of the holiday is love. Let the people whom mean the most to you know that they are loved and appreciated. Be thoughtful.
