Plus Size Fashion Designers

For Us, By Us. Navigating the world as a plus size fashionista, I don’t always have the privilege to say FUBU. Independent (Indie) designers/brands are changing the face of inclusive style and fashion. A women’s size should never limit her access to fashion. Plus size designers are constantly shaping and driving fashion forward. For Society of Harlow’s inaugural Indie Designer Week, I teamed up with six amazing designers/brands –Sew Savior Faire by Bonita Dudley Scott Parker, Christian Omeshun by A’Shontay Hubbard, Shantress Sadá by Shantress Fleming, The Wendy S Collection by Wendy Striggles,  Smash Shoes by Ashlie Davis, and GloungÉ by Ashley Monique to showcase their talent and their commitment to size-inclusive fashion! Additionally, I must acknowledge that all of featured designs and brands are created by black women #BlackGirlMagic. 

 

Sew  Savior Faire

Bonita Dudley Scott Parker of Sew Savior Faire by defines her brand as an one-of-a-kind pieces of art, perfect for the woman whom seeks avant garde designs. 

About my look

I now know what it feels like to wear a piece of art. My style is all about vibrant colors, bold details, and timeless silhouettes, My custom Sew Savior Faire white maxi skirt with hand-sewn feathers truly embodies my unique style. I styled my multi-colored tiered feathered skirt with a jean jacket.to create an unique contrast of couture and casual, 

 

Shantress Sadá

Shantress Fleming of Shantress Sadá defines her brand as timeless, luxurious, fierce, and  bold, perfect for fashion-forward woman. 

About My Look 

You are looking at the first ever plus size Disney Princess, RIGHT?! Shantress Sadá’s one-shoulder gown literally took my breath away.. I felt like I was floating through the room. From the chic one-shoulder design to the cascading metallic fabric, this gown is what my fashion dreams are made of.  This gown would be perfect for your black-tie holiday soiree or winter wedding.  

 

Christian Omeshun

About My Look 

Whew chil.e the SLAYAGE! This is plus size fashion – the fit,on trend, and sexy. For generations, plus size woman have been “ordered” to stay away from all-over-prints. Christian Omeshun’s leopard two-piece set commands head-turns. For my CO look, I styled with leopard on cheetah prints. Go bold or go home!  

 

The Wendy S Collection

Wendy Striggles of The Wendy S Collection defines her brand as casual chic, perfect for the modern bohemian woman. [Black Friday Promotion 30% OFF]

About My Look 

The Wendy S Collection is all about casual chicness, I love the movement and  flow of this over-sized draped duster in white. Most importantly, I love the versatility of this duster; you can style it with a little black dress for a formal look or even with a swimsuit for a coastal vibe. For my look, I styled with a lace body suit and jeans for a sexy date night look. 

 

Smash Shoes

 Ashlie Davis created Smash Shoes with a deep passion to provide contemporary and on-trend shoes for women wearing US size 10 to 14. 

About My Look 

You can’t have the perfect look with out THE perfect shoe! As the plus size clothing industry has evolved to provide more trendy options, trendy extended-size shoes have not,until now. As a size 11/12, Smash Shoes is my go to shoe haven. For my sexy and casual date night look, I knew these oxblood suede and mesh booties would be perfect. 

 

GloungÉ

 

Ashley Monique of GloungÉ defines her brand as glamorous loungewear, perfect for the glamorous woman who loves to be  comfortable.  

About My Look

Winter whites and pops of color; there are no rules in the game of fashion.  This cozy high-neck sweater and multi-colored tiered skirt by GloungÉ is the perfect fun and flirty winter look.  First, let’s get into this yummy sweater. I love all the details of this sweater from the exaggerated neck to the gold stripes woven throughout. Second, the skirt is a true statement piece  with it’s unique print and structure. Cute and cozy for the win.
